As we continue to strive to support and uplift not only African American Occupational Therapy practitioners and students but the African American community as a whole, we would love for you to join us.  Enrich fellow practitioners and your community all within the same organization.

1. Connection: You are connected to a larger group of Black occupational therapists banded together to produce positive results for our colleagues and our people, both nationally and internationally.

 

2. Professional Development: NBOTC provides quality education and opportunities to lift Black scholarship.  You can contribute to the content, help plan events or attend to enhance your professional development.

 

3. Public Policy/Advocacy: You can contribute to the strong advocacy program centered on assuring that Black Occupational Therapy voices are being heard.  

 

4. Free Informational Services: The association keeps members in touch with each other and current issues through the association’s web site and email updates of emerging issues relevant to occupational therapy. 

 

5. Networking: You have many opportunities to network with black occupational therapy professionals, building your contacts, sharing ideas, best practices and solutions to enhance your current job, find opportunities for career enhancement, etc. Networking events range from Annual Conferences to regional meetings. 

 

6. Affiliation: You will have affiliation with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), the Multicultural, Diversity and Inclusion (MDI) Network as well as other organization partners.

 

7. Mentoring: You can receive and assist with student and professional mentoring.

 

8. Leadership Opportunities: You are provided opportunities to learn and practice leadership and meeting management skills that you may need for your resume, professional growth or self-promotion.  Opportunities are available on the Board, committees and special projects.
